Product Description

The 1960’s Music Tree is the inaugural edition of the four decades of Burton Family Trees of Music. This art typographically gives a historical introspection on everything in Music from 1960-1969. A striking visual chronology of the era that defined Rock 'N Roll! This is a beautiful piece of art doubling as a history of the rocking sixties. All of the significant bands of the era, from giants like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones to smaller groups such as American Breed and The Sunshine Company, are represented here. Each band in the tree is arranged in chronological order and sized by significance, with a plethora of fonts and icons used to add distinction to the piece. The Burton Sixties Rock Tree is a terrific piece of art that will inform and impress. The roots of the 1960s Music Tree feature the places, moments and movements that defined the era and shaped its music. On the left we see a vintage automobile, one that a teenager of the sixties could’ve taken to the drive-in movie theater or Lookout Lane. Beside that is a couple of surfboards, a nod to the Beach Boys and the surf rock sound they pioneered. To the right of those are college students picketing in front of the U.S. Capitol building, in protest of the Vietnam War. On the other side of the tree’s trunk there is the iconic Wurlitzer jukebox, spinning records from Bob Dylan, James Brown and many others. Also present is Westminster Abbey and Big Ben clock tower, signaling the enormous influence Great Britain had on rock music during this time period. And no band was a bigger influence than The Beatles, who are honored with a picture of their Yellow Submarine. The roots of the Sixties feature sketches of major world events that were the back drop to this incredible era of music: Motown, the Vietnam War, protests and of course the beloved Woodstock concert that closed this decade and sparked the Seventies. A vintage automobile lines the landscape. This is a digital print of the original lithograph printed on archival canvas and hand wrapped on wooden stretcher bars. Overall Size: 20 (W) x 22 (H) x 3/4 (D)
