Product Description

The 1970’s Music Tree is the second edition of the four decades of Burton Family Trees of Music. This art typographically gives a historical introspection on everything in Music from 1970-1979. A striking visual chronology of the music of the 1970’s! This is a beautiful piece of art that also serves as a chronology of all the rock, disco and R&B that came to fruition in the seventies. All of the significant bands of the era, from giants like the Eagles and KISS to smaller artists such as Kate Bush and Rare Earth, are represented here. Each band in the tree is arranged in chronological order and sized by significance, with a plethora of fonts and icons used to add distinction to the piece. The Burton Seventies Rock History Tree is a terrific piece of art that will wow any child or fan of seventies rock ‘n roll. The roots of the 1970s Music Tree feature the things, people and places that shaped the era and its music. On the left we see the iconic Volkswagen Beetle, forever associated with the hippie movement of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Behind the car sit nuclear exhaust stacks, indicating the rise of nuclear power and the ever-present menace of the Cold War. To the right of the stacks are college students picketing in front of the U.S. Capitol building, in protest of the fighting in Vietnam. On the other side of the tree’s trunk is the famous Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, host to legendary hard rock concerts that would last as long as six hours. Finally, some of London’s most notable landmarks are shown, with Pink Floyd’s signature floating pig gracing the sky. This is a digital print of the original lithograph printed on archival canvas and hand wrapped on wooden stretcher bars. Overall Size: 16 (W) x 18 (H) x 3/4 (D)
