Product Description

The 1980’s Music Tree is the third edition of the four decades of Burton Family Trees of Music. This art typographically gives a historical introspection on everything in Music from 1980-1989. An eye-catching visual depiction of the music of the 1980’s! This is a beautiful piece of art doubling as a chronology of all the new wave, heavy metal, glam rock, etc. that was born in the eighties. All of the significant bands of the era, from huge acts like U2 and Bon Jovi to smaller artists such as Jesus Lizards and Concrete Blonde, are represented here. Each band in the tree is arranged in chronological order and sized by significance, with a plethora of fonts and icons used to add distinction to the piece. The Burton Eighties Rock History Tree is a terrific piece of art that will please any child or fan of eighties rock ‘n roll. The roots of the 1980s Music Tree feature the places, moments and movements that defined the era and shaped its music. On the left we see the collapse of the Berlin Wall, reunifying Germany and symbolizing the end of the Cold War. On the right is the skyline of New York City, the center of the American music industry. The Empire State Building and World Trade Center are prominently displayed. In front of the skyline is a banner commemorating Beatles legend John Lennon, who was assassinated in Manhattan in December, 1980. Finally, on the right sits a Porsche 911, one of the most popular high-end sports cars of the decade, and a symbol of the flash and excess that the ‘80s have come to be known for. The roots of the Eighties feature sketches of the "Berlin Wall" that fell at the end of the decade, as well as the skyline of New York City, John Lennon's favorite city. It was the site of his untimely murder in 1980. This is a digital print of the original lithograph printed on archival canvas and hand wrapped on wooden stretcher bars. Overall Size: 20 (W) x 22 (H) x 3/4 (D)
