The Chargers, founded in 1960, are one of the eight original American Football League (AFL) teams. Led by the team?s original head coach, Sid Gillman, in the early 60?s; Head Coach Don Coryell in the late 70?s and 80?s, and Head Coach Bobby Ross and AFC Champion Chargers of 1994, the Chargers have played the kind of quick-strike football mirrored by their lightning bolt insignia.
